How We'll Work

Get ready to tackle your chapter and whip it into shape over the next 10 weeks!

We'll be taking an iterative approach, focusing first on the big-picture stuff like structure and argumentation at the section and paragraph level before diving into nitty-gritty revisions later on.

The beauty of this approach? You use your time wisely–you'll assemble the bones of your chapter quickly, so you’ll have the framework down before you start perfecting sentences.

Plus, once you learn this approach—the same one editors and reviewers will use to assess your chapters!—you can apply it to revising your other chapters, journal articles, and so on!

To prep, start corralling your materials: any previous chapter drafts, research notes, related papers—anything topically relevant. You may also want to draft a chapter abstract or outline the core argument and roadmap. (If you've done our Dissertation-to-Book Workshop or have worked through Chapters 1-13 of The Dissertation-to-Book Workbook on your own, just have your Chapter Answers ready.)

On Mondays, the week's lesson will unlock.

This facilitated program features one 90-minute weekly meeting (troubleshooting, Q&A, mini-workshops, and coworking) plus one optional 60-minute coworking session/office hour (Friday at 1pm Eastern).

Can't make the meetings? Don't worry! I'll make the recordings available, usually within 24 hours.
